Welcome to historic Ss. Peter and Paul Jesuit, Detroit’s oldest church building and first Cathedral in downtown Detroit. Thank you for considering our community for celebrating your sacraments and life’s milestones. For more information please contact the parish office.
Sacrament of Baptism
Preparing for your child’s baptism is very important in their faith journey for you both. Baptisms are celebrated with the community during our regular Masses on the weekend.
Sacrament of Communion
Families with children attending other catechetical programs or in Catholic schools are welcome to celebrate the Eucharist for the first time during our regular weekend Masses.
Sacrament of Confirmation
There are a few times during the year when those individuals can be anointed by the bishop and complete this milestone.
Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession)
Priests are usually available after Masses for individual confession (ask before mass). Communal Reconciliation Services may be offered occasionally throughout the year.
Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick
Those suffering from serious illness or facing surgery can arrange for individual anointing. The congregation celebrates communal Anointing of the Sick occasionally throughout the year.
Sacrament of Marriage
Celebrate the Sacrament of Marriage in the oldest church building in the City of Detroit. Learn more
Funerals (Mass of Resurrection)
We know the loss of a family member or friend is a difficult time. We can help you arrange a Mass of Christian Burial for your loved one.
Anniversary
Did you get married at Ss. Peter and Paul or St. Catherine Chapel? Even if you were married somewhere else, we want to celebrate with you. Let us know.
Marriage Convalidation
Maybe life was a bit hectic when you said ‘I do’. You can still get married in the church. We’ll help you through the process and give you the information you need.
St. Valentine’s Day Engagement Blessing
Each year on St. Valentine’s Day we incorporate a blessing into the Sunday Mass for those who are engaged to be married and those who have already been married at Ss. Peter and Paul. This celebration brings the legacy of those who have shared a lifetime to those who will begin a new life together.
School Baccalaureate Mass
Each year the University of Detroit High School and Academy and the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law celebrate their graduating class with a Baccalaureate Mass. A great way to end the school year.
