We rely on the faithful dedication of many volunteers not only during, but also before and after each of our Masses. Each of these various Liturgical Ministries performs an important role to assist with worship.
If you are interested in learning more about serving in one of our Liturgical Ministries, please contact Julie M. Ford, Director of Music and Liturgy, at music@ssppjesuit.org for more information.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC)
EMHCs assist with the distribution of Holy Communion at our weekend Masses. In order to serve in this ministry you must attend a brief training session. Training sessions are scheduled as needed – contact our Director of Music and Liturgy to inquire about the next training session.
Lectors
Lectors assist with the proclamation of Holy Scripture at our weekend Masses. In a large space such as ours, clear slow speech is an especially important qualification for serving as a Lector. Lectors will be given a workbook for home use, and are expected to review the readings prior to the Mass in which they are serving. In order to serve in this ministry you must attend a brief training session. Contact our Director of Music and Liturgy to inquire about the next training session.
Welcome Team
The Welcome Team is the first face of welcome to regular worshippers and visitors at our weekend Masses. If you enjoy greeting new friends, then we need you in this ministry! We seek people who are friendly and outgoing to serve at our weekend masses, and also occasionally at other services throughout the year as availability permits.
Altar Care
Members of the Altar Care Team assist with the cleaning of linens and the general organization of our Sacristy. Tasks for Altar Guild participants often occur outside of regular Mass times and many of the duties can be performed at home.
Sacristan
The Sacristan arrives before Mass and prepares all of the items needed for Mass – such as the vessels, vestments, and books. Duties may also include unlocking doors and turning on lights. After Mass the Sacristan makes sure everything is cleaned and stored away, and that the lights are off and the doors are locked.
Art & Environment Team
Members of this team assist with the decoration of our church for various special seasons and events. If you are artistic, skilled with fabric arts and sewing, or have a flair for interior design, then this ministry is for you.
Acolyte
Also known as Altar servers, Acolytes assist the Priest at the Altar during the liturgy. This role is open to mature children, youth, and adults.
Liturgy Committee
This advisory group meets on a regular basis to provide oversight for our Liturgical life and ministries.
