In Syria, the Jesuit Refugee Service already had a robust presence since 2008, so they began response immediately.

In Turkey, the Catholic bishop in the affected region is a Jesuit (Paolo Bizzeti, SJ), so he is coordinating relief efforts. The Cathedral completely collapsed, but he himself is safe.
