To celebrate the Season of Creation, whose theme year is To Hope and Act With Creation, we would like to invite you to some opportunities for prayer, reflection and action.
“Despite all attempts to deny, conceal, gloss over or relativize the issue, the signs of climate change are here and increasingly evident… I ask everyone to accompany this pilgrimage of reconciliation with the world that is our home and to help make it more beautiful.”
- His Holiness Pope Francis, Bishop of Rome, Roman Catholic Church
For 35 years now, Christian churches have been celebrating the Season of Creation as proposed by Ecumenical Patriarch Demetrios. The Laudato Si’ Movement is the Catholic organization that provides resources for the Season of Creation. This is a time for prayer and action to care for creation. This year, the Laudato Si’ Movement asks Catholics to learn about the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty and spread the word on September 21st via social media.
The SPPJ Green Team invites all members of the parish to share in our vision of a healed Earth where all of God’s creation thrives. Our mission is to identify and implement faith-based action in the Detroit area to help mitigate climate change and promote care for our common home. To celebrate the Season of Creation, we would like to invite you to some parish, family of parishes and events organized by other parishes in the Archdiocese. These are opportunities for prayer, reflection and action.
