“‘Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.’” – Matthew 19:14 NRSV. This verse from the Gospel of Matthew has taken on a special meaning to us at Ss. Peter and Paul Jesuit over the past several years. On any given Sunday, our church is filled with the sound of our littlest parishioners’ joy and worship and as they grow older we must grow with them. We are excited to launch a new religious education program at Ss. Peter and Paul Jesuit and are even more excited to extend an invitation to participate in our first session this fall.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, an experience based and Montessori inspired religious education program, takes seriously the question of how can we, as adults, foster an authentic and loving relationship with and awareness of God in our children. Through structured play and exploration with figurines and altar materials, children learn about the history of their faith, the scriptures, and the Mass. To learn more about the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program, you can visit cgsusa.org.

This fall, Ss. Peter and Paul will offer level one for children ages 3-7 (as of October 1st, 2024). Sessions will be held every other Sunday from 9:45AM-10:45AM in the parish office, beginning tentatively on October 13th. There will be a nominal tuition cost to be determined in the upcoming weeks. Scholarships will be available.

If you’re interested in participating in this upcoming session, please fill out the google form here – do not worry if we haven’t seen you in a while. Our religious education will be open to all. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact Director of Parish Life Rebecca MacMaster.
