Do you find yourself humming along with the radio at the traffic lights, or crooning a tune in the shower? Then if so we need you! After a long hiatus our SSPP Choir is ready to get back to singing together again. We are tentatively planning to begin our season with a retreat on Saturday September 11. There are many wonderful reasons to join the choir, but I think most of our choir members would agree that they are most fed by the community of support, prayer, and friendship that we enjoy with one another.
So what does it take to join the SSPP choir? Well, we don’t have too many requirements. It does help if you are able to read music and have experience singing in a choir, but it isn’t essential. Part of our time together each week is spent building the skills needed to sing in choir, so even those who don’t have much prior experience are given the tools they need. Mostly you just need a love for music and a willingness to spend a little extra time at church on Sundays to attend our rehearsals and sing for mass.
So you think you might want to join choir… what’s your next step? Talk to our Music Director Julie Ford – you can either stop by the organ to talk to her after Sunday masses, or you can email her at music@ssppjesuit.org. And plan to attend our choir retreat on Saturday September 11 from 10 am to 3 pm. Advanced RSVPs are required for the retreat so plans can be made in advance for music and lunch.
I will sing to the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live. (Psalm 104)
